Seminarians Installed to Ministry of Lector

LATROBE, PENNSYLVANIA — Twenty-four seminarians from Saint Vincent Seminary were installed in the Ministry of Lector on March 10 by Most Rev. William J. Winter, S.T.D., Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh.

They are from twelve archdioceses and dioceses and eight religious communities. The seminarians are: Br. Paulo Panza, O.S.B., and Br. Maurus Mount, O.S.B., Saint Vincent Archabbey; Timothy J. Kruthaupt and Alan N. Polczynski, Diocese of Greensburg; Joseph A. Carr and Mark R. Tobin, Diocese of Pittsburgh; Fredy Alberto Angel, Diocese of Savannah; Charles E. McGinnis, Jr., Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston; James C. Campbell, Diocese of Erie; James F. Fair, Diocese of Harrisburg; Keith M. Heise, Diocese of Columbus; Aron M. Maghsoudi and Charles C. Ugo, Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown; Mark Gallipeau of the Community of Sacred and Immaculate Hearts, Diocese of Steubenville; Br. Gabriel J. SAINT VINCENT ARCHABBEY

Brother Paulo S. Panza, O.S.B., is a son of Mario and Josefina Locatelly Panza. He attended Colegio Sao Luis, Sao Paulo High School, and received a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from the Pontifical University of Campinas. He also studied theology there. He made simple profession of vows April 21, 1983, and solemn profession of vows July 11, 1986. At the Benedictine Priory in Brazil, he has served as guest master at the Monastery, and worked with the youths of the parishes to foster Christian vocations. He is presently sacristan and organist there.

Brother Maurus Mount, O.S.B., is the son of Frank E. and Alina M. Mount of Indialantic, Florida. He is a 1996 graduate of Melbourne High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in classical languages from Marquette University in 2000. He entered the novitiate at Saint Vincent Archabbey in July of 2001, and made his first vows on July 10, 2002. In 2002 he was named assistant guestmaster and assistant master of ceremonies/sacristan.

DIOCESE OF GREENSBURG

Timothy J. Kruthaupt is the son of Janet F. Kruthaupt of Littleton, Colorado and the late Francis J. Kruthaupt. He is a 1970 graduate of Roger Bacon High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Western State College of Colorado in 1974 and a juris doctor degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 1980.

Alan N. Polczynski is the son of Sylvester and Rose Polczynski of Lower Burrell. He is a 1984 graduate of Burrell Senior High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in theater arts from Point Park College in 1989.

DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH

Joseph A. Carr is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Carr of Pittsburgh. He is a 1975 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh and earned a bachelor of science degree in journalism from West Virginia University in 1980. He has done graduate studies at Duquesne University and at the Heinz School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University.

Mark R. Tobin is son of the the late James R. and Audrey M. Tobin. He is a 1974 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Pittsburgh, and received a bachelor of arts degree in communications and rhetoric from the University of Pittsburgh. He studied philosophy for theological studies at Duquesne University.

DIOCESE OF SAVANNAH

Fredy Alberto Angel is the son of Jose Alfonso and Eva Angel of Bogota, Colombia. He is a 1992 graduate of Tecnico Salesiano de Cundinomarca High School in Bogota. He also attended the Universidad Santo Tomas de Aquino in Bogota, majoring in philosophy and religion.

DIOCESE OF WHEELING-CHARLESTON

Charles E. McGinnis, Jr., is the son of Charles E. McGinnis Sr. and Sandra Kay McGinnis of Wheeling, West Virginia. He is a 1984 graduate of Wheeling Park High School. He earned a regents bachelor of arts degree from West Liberty State College in education in 1990.

DIOCESE OF ERIE

James C. Campbell is the son of John P. and Dolores M. Campbell of Erie. He is a 1998 graduate of Cathedral Preparatory School in Erie and a 2002 graduate of Gannon University, with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics and philosophy.

DIOCESE OF HARRISBURG

James F. Fair is the son of Francis P. and Mary Lee Fair of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. He is a 1996 graduate of Camp Hill High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Millersville University in 1990.

DIOCESE OF COLUMBUS

Keith M. Heise is the son of John and Paula Heise of Lancaster, Ohio. He is a 1998 graduate of Bloom Carroll High School, Carroll, Ohio and earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Pontifical College Josephinum in 2002.

DIOCESE OF ALTOONA-JOHNSTOWN

Aron M. Maghsoudi is the son of M. Abraham Maghsoudi of Vienna, Virginia and Colleen A. Carr of Ligonier. He is a 1998 graduate of Greater Latrobe High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in religious education from Saint Vincent College in 2002, cum laude.

Charles C. Ugo is the son of Mrs. Cordelia Chizuba Ugo of Nigeria and the late Kevin Ugo. He is a 1995 graduate of Nguru Secondary Commercial School, Nigeria, and earned a bachelor of philosophy degree from Claretian Institute of Philosophy in Nigeria in 2000.

DIOCESE OF STEUBENVILLE

Mark Gallipeau of the Community of Sacred and Immaculate Hearts is the son of Robert B. and Mary E. Gallipeau of Groton, Massachusetts. He is a 1974 graduate of Groton Senior High School, and earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, in 2002.

Br. Gabriel J. Rapisarda, C.M.M.I., of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Monastery is the son of Gregory A. and Carol A. Rapisarda of Bel Air, Maryland. He is a 1995 gradaute of John Carroll School, Bel Air. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2000. He studied theology at Creighton University Institute for Priestly Formation.

ARCHDIOCESE OF ATLANTA

Cyril Soo-Gil Chae is the son of Sun-ik Chae and Cho-Young Noh of Seoul, Korea. He completed high school in 1976 in Seoul, Korea and studied for two years at Saint Vincent’s College Seminary in Quezon City, Philippines. He earned a diploma of philosophy and theology from Saint Vincent School of Theology in the Philippines.

DIOCESE OF CHARLOTTE

Alejandro Ayala of Ashville, North Carolina is the son of Elena Beatriz Pena of Argentina and the late Horacio Gilberto Ayala. He is a 1978 graduate of Colegio Nacional “Bartolomé Mitre.” He attended the Universidad del Norte “Santo Tomás de Aquino” in Argentina from 1979 to 1980.

DIOCESE OF TULSA

Stephen Cotter is the son of David and Joan Cotter of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He is a 1994 graduate of Bishop Kelley High School and a 1997 graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, earning a bachelor of arts degree in theology.

SAINT BENEDICT'S ABBEY

Br. Marion M. Charboneau, O.S.B., is the son of Donald Charboneau of Council Grove, Kansas and the late Joyce Charboneau. He is a 1989 graduate of Council Grove High School. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in history in 1993 and a master of arts degree in American History in 1995 from Emporia State University, Kansas.

SAINT PETER'S ABBEY

Br. Paul B. Paproski, O.S.B. of St. Peter’s Abbey, Muenster, Saskatchewan, is the son of Ardel and Freda Paproski of Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. He is a 1981 graduate of Hudson Bay Composite High School. He studied journalism at the University of Saskatchewan from 1981 to 1983 and earned a degree in journalism in 1985 from the University of Regina.

SAINT ANDREW ABBEY

Br. Marcel J. Longe, O.S.B., is the son of Eleanior M. Longe of Palmer, Massachusetts, and the late Gordon K. Longe. He is a 1992 graduate of Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School in Palmer and a 1999 graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and theology. He has also attended graduate school at John Carroll University, University Heights, Ohio.

MARY MOTHER OF THE CHURCH ABBEY

Br. Mark A. Purcell, O.S.B., is the son of Frank X. and Christine T. Purcell of Codville, Ohio. He is a 1989 graduate of Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg, West Virginia. He earned a bachelor of science degree in education, with a major in mathematics, from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, in 1994.

Br. Gregory A. Gresko, O.S.B., is the son of Joseph A. and Wanda L. Gresko of Montpelier, Virginia. He is a 1988 graduate of The Collegiate Schools, Richmond, Virginia. He earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology and English in 1992 and a master of arts in education in secondary English education from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.
