Saint Vincent Seminary welcomed twenty-five new students for the 2008-2009 fall term. The students are from the Abbey of the Genesee, Piffard, New York; the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown; the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Georgia; the Diocese of Birmingham, Alabama; the Diocese of Covington, Kentucky; the Diocese of Erie; the Diocese of Harrisburg; Marmion Abbey, Aurora, Illinois; Mary Mother of the Church Abbey, Richmond, Virginia; the Diocese of Pittsburgh; the Diocese of Saginaw, Michigan; Saint Vincent Archabbey; the Diocese of Savannah, Georgia; the Diocese of Steubenville, Ohio; and the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, West Virginia.

On Friday, September 19, 2008 he will perform at Saint Vincent College and Seminary at the Carey Performing Arts Center, located at 300 Fraser Purchase Road in Latrobe, at 7:30 pm for limited engagement of his one-man production of The Gospel According to John.

Christian Spirituality Course Offered at Saint Vincent Seminary

Saint Vincent Seminary will be offering a summer course entitled ‘Christian Spirituality and the Universal Call to Holiness’, which will provide an introduction to the spiritual life through the wisdom, writings, and lives of the saints and the Church. Students will be given the opportunity to explore the various elements of Christian spirituality and prayer in order to grasp more fully how the vocation to holiness can be lived in daily life.

Way of the Cross CDs/DVDs Being Sold

Saint Vincent Seminary will be offering CD and DVD recordings of the 2008 Way of the Cross performances. The Way of the Cross is a dramatic and musical presentation of the Stations of the Cross featuring performances from professional and student actors and musicians. Two local Saint Vincent College students, Matthew Dunlap of Loyalhanna and Daria Cuda of Latrobe, will portray a high priest and soloist, respectively. Written by Brother Elijah Cirigliano, O.S.B. of Saint Vincent Seminary, the show was performed 19 times in New York and Connecticut, before making its Pennsylvania debut in February 2007.
