2008-1 Spring Leaven

Spring 2008 Leaven is a 40-page color issue that includes an account by Reverend Mr. Bradley Greer about the pilgrimage to see Pope Benedict XVI. A five-page feature documents the Seminary’s past decade of achievements. Paul Whiteside, the Director of Development, gives his take on where to turn during the declining economy. The Expanding the Vision Campaign comes to a close. Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B., gives a reflection on Father Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to the United States of America in the Chancellor’s Column. In the Chairman’s Column, Dr. John C. Marous, Jr. discusses how the Seminary curriculum has strengthened. Father Justin M. Matro, O.S.B., talks about the Spiritual Formation in the Rector’s Column. Saint Vincent College joins with the Seminary in order to perform Brother Elijah’s Way of the Cross. Dr. Scott Hahn gives a lecture entitled, “The Person and Prayer of Jesus: Reflections on Pope Benedict XVI’s Biblical Christology.” Eight seminarians are admitted into Candidacy for Holy Orders and the Seminary holds its first Mardi Gras event. 2008-2 Fall Leaven

This 32-page color issue includes an article on the World Youth Day in Australia, where several seminarians and recent graduates attended. Several seminarians give an account of their summer activities and assignments. Brother Elliott Maloney, O.S.B. teaches in Nigeria. The Seminary reaccreditation is approved. The Seminary makes the cover of In Trust magazine. Twenty-four new students are welcomed. Several seminary graduates are interviewed for a news feature concerning how U.S. Parish Priests are increasingly from other countries. The Annual Summer Conference enters its fourth year. Leonardo Defilippis performs his one-man production of “The Gospel According to John”. The 2008-2010 Seminary Catalogue is completed. Father Justin M. Matro, O.S.B., reflects on the upcoming Advent season.
