2007-1 Spring Leaven

In this 36-page color issue, Spring 2007, articles pay tribute to Archbishop Donald Wuerl, who received an honorary degree from Saint Vincent and to Most Reverend George Vance Murry, S.J. for being appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown. Bishop Lawrence E. Brandt celebrates his third anniversary of his Episcopal ordination. The seminarians begin a campaign for the renovation of Leander Hall. Dr. Brant Pitre and Dr. Scott Hahn give the speeches at the annual lecture of the Pope Benedict Chair of Biblical Theology and Liturgical Proclamation. Dr. Mark Waldstein gives a lecture on the significance of Pope John Paul II. Reverend Charles Byrd, Jr. returns to Atlanta after four years of serving as the Director of Spiritual Life and Director of Liturgical Formation and teaching. Father Joseph Mele speaks at the scholarship dinner. Articles also highlight 86-year-old Monsignor Robert J. Reilly and Vera and August Battaglia, seminary donors. The annual report is also included.

2007-2 Fall Leaven

This 44-page color issue includes the announcement of three new members being named to the Board of Regents: Bishop David A. Zubik, Ms. Deborah L. Acklin and Mr. L. Richard Zappone. Twenty-two new students are welcomed into the Seminary. Father John-Michael Lavalle discusses how he is taking ministry in a new direction. The Seminary hosts the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. The Seminary and the Saint Paul Center for Biblical Theology hold the second annual summer conference. DVD talks from Dr. William Bales, Dr. Scott Hahn, and Dr. Brant Pitre are available for sale through Archabbey Publications. The Psalms: Heartbeat of Life and Worship by Brother Benedict F. Janecko, O.S.B. is reprinted for the third time. Father Cyprian Constantine, O.S.B. assumes the position of the Liturgical Director and Brother Bruno Daniel Heisey, O.S.B., is named to the faculty. Twenty-two students graduate: thirteen with a Master of Divinity degree, nine with a Master of Arts degree, and one Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree. Father Kurt Belsole, O.S.B., is appointed to the Director of Liturgy and one of the resident formation advisors at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. Father Lester Knoll, O.F.M, Cap. is named as the Director of Spiritual Formation. The seminarians complete the Leander Hall furniture campaign. Andy Walz is appointed event coordinator. Brother Matthias Martinez, O.S.B. is appointed to rector’s staff and Father Edward Mazich, O.S.B. is named to the faculty.
