1998-1 Winter Leaven

Appearing as Volume 7, Number 2, the Winter 1998 edition details the new officers for the Seminary Board of Regents, including Mr. John C. Marous, Jr., new chairman of the board, and Harrisburg Bishop Nicholas C. Dattilo, new vice chairman. Stepping down as chairman but remaining on the board was Greensburg Bishop Anthony G. Bosco. Seminarians from Saint Vincent participated in the annual March for Life in Washington D.C.. An article inside noted the Seminay's positive self-evaluation and recognized the visits of teams of evaluators from the Middle States Association and the Association of Theological Schools. Seminary News and Notes and a listing of summer graduate courses rounded out the newsletter.

1998-2 Spring/Summer Leaven

Soon-to-be Seminary graduates reflected on their futures and their years at Saint Vincent in an article in Volume 7, Number 3, Spring/Summer 1998. Faculty member Father Demetrius R. Dumm, O.S.B., received word that one of his books, Flowers in the Desert: A Spirituality of the Bible, was reprinted after selling over 18,000 copies. Rector Father Thomas P. Acklin, O.S.B., reflected on the community life at the Seminary. Rev. Walter J. Burghardt, S.J., received an honorary degree at the annual commencement, where 13 students received graduate degrees. A new dean of students, Father Alan E. Thomas was introduced, and other staff changes were reported. The loss of a former faculty member, Judge Bernard F. Scherer, was lamented. News of ordinations, jubilees and seminarians was also featured.

1998-3 Fall Leaven

The future of the Seminary was discussed in a cover story article by Father Thomas P. Acklin, O.S.B., Rector. Also on the cover of Volume 8, Number 1, were photographs and an article on the honorary Doctor of Sacred Theology Degree presented to His Eminence, Jozef Cardinal Tomko, Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Urban University. David L. Brennan was welcomed to the Board of Regents and Father Ralph M. Tajak, O.S.B., to the Seminary faculty. Tribute was paid to Father Demetrius R. Dumm, O.S.B., faculty member, during the annual Alumni Day banquet, and an endowment announced in his honor. News included pastoral experiences of seminarians and brief biographies of 30 new students in the Seminary's ever-increasing enrollment.
