Most Rev. Boniface Krug, O.S.B., S.T.D., was a student at St. Vincent's from 1849-1856. He went to Rome to study, transferred his vows to Monte Cassino Abbey, and in 1888 became its Abbot-Ordinary. Before his death, in 1909, he had become known as the great rebuilder of the modern Monte Cassino.
