About Us

The Seminary shares the campus with a Monastery of Benedictine monks, a Catholic Benedictine liberal arts and science College, and a Parish, and thus affords unique opportunities for living and learning.

Saint Vincent Seminary is a part of the Saint Vincent College Corporation. The two constituent educational units of the Corporation, the Seminary and the College, share a campus and the use of many facilities to the mutual benefit of both entities. By sharing the campus with Saint Vincent College, the Seminary provides access to the campus-wide technology infrastructure of Saint Vincent College, a wellness center, a swimming pool, an auditorium for speakers and concerts, a gymnasium for athletic events, athletic fields, a walking track, and ample open spaces for recreation. The College also maintains a well-equipped fitness room with free weights and state-of-the-art exercise machines.
The Saint Vincent campus is located in a semi-rural setting that provides a quiet, less hectic environment for study, prayer, and the experience of building a community of theological learning and apostolic service. The Seminary is situated near the physical center of the Saint Vincent campus, between the monastery grounds and the larger configuration of buildings and grounds more closely identified with the College. The proximity of the Archabbey Basilica and monastery exposes the student to the Benedictine heritage of regular daily liturgical prayer combined with both intellectual and manual labor. The Benedictine value of stewardship is evident from the good care of the grounds and buildings.
While clearly separate living quarters, classroom areas, and dining rooms support a necessary sense of distinct identity for the Seminary student body, some mutually interactive space with the monastery and easy access to the common library, sports facilities, and other parts of the campus preclude any sense of isolation.

The Seminary emphasizes an experience of community that encourages respect and personal growth. We have also sought to provide a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere, with bright, airy, and adequately sized quarters for individual seminarians and small group-size dimensions in communal areas.
The Seminary’s chapel and the Basilica, each in its own way, foster a healthy balance of the ordinary and the extraordinary realities of the quest for holiness, as does the whole Seminary environment. Religious artwork in hallways, communal areas, offices, hallways, on the grounds, and in private rooms gives a visible and tactile witness to the history and culture of the faith, while photographs of the students’ bishops and of recent popes convey awareness of the wider Church.
The steady routine and dependable structure of time is as pervasive as the sound of the bells in the tower that call the community to prayer and mark the passing of time, both in the development of disciples on the journey of faith and in the formation of workers for the vineyard of the Lord.
The Archabbey, College and Seminary share many facilities, including the Library, athletic center, health center and art gallery. Additionally, the Seminary facilities include a chapel, and a Communications Ministries Lab.
