Juan-Pedro Reyna, who has been an adjunct faculty member at Saint Vincent Seminary since August 2006, has been named Director of Hispanic Ministries.
He has served the Seminary as an instructor of Spanish, and since 2007 he has served as the full-time Assistant Director of Hispanic Ministries.
He was appointed to the adjunct Seminary faculty in 2006, following studies at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio.
Reyna, originally from Sonora, Mexico, has a Juris Doctor degree in law from the University of Sonora, Mexico, and as well as a degree in physical education from Escuela Normal Superior, Tepic, Mexico.
After his graduation in 2000, Reyna worked as a lawyer for the attorney’s district Office in Mexico. At the same time, he served as a basketball coach for boys and girls from kindergarten to high school age, which he had been doing in various school districts since 1992. From 2001 to 2003, Reyna also acted as the Dean of Discipline at the Irish Institute, a Catholic school in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
He has worked with various youth ministry groups, been a social volunteer (hospitals and funerals), done apostolic work, was a confirmation catechist, and worked in prison ministry. He was also coordinator of baptism ministry and Hispanic ministry at St. Mary Catholic Parish in Chandler, Arizona.
